For many positions, we ask qualified applicants to take pre-hire behavioral assessments. For select technical positions, we also ask applicants to take an employment test developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI).

As an employee at Xcel Energy you’ll receive 40 hours of paid volunteer time off every year. You can pack snacks for hungry school kids, build Habitat for Humanity houses, clean up parks, mentor a student or deliver meals to shut-ins. What’s more, our Dollars for Doing program matches up to 100 hours of your off-hours volunteer time at $10 per hour, so the qualifying non-profits you support get twice the benefit.

The Xcel Energy Foundation also matches employee and retiree donations to eligible nonprofit organizations dollar-for-dollar, up to $750 per employee per year. Donations to higher education institutions are matched up to $2,000 per employee per year.

We encourage our employees and retirees to apply for small grants of up to $1,000 for community service projects of their choosing. If you have an idea, we want to hear it.

And we can’t help bragging about the generous support our employees and retirees give to 170 United Way charities across the country. Their gifts, along with a dollar-for-dollar match from the Xcel Energy Foundation, provide millions of dollars that make a real difference for neighbors in need.
