PURPOSE:
Calumet Montana Refining has an immediate opening for a full time Senior Process Engineer. The primary role of the Senior Process Engineer is to provide strategic improvement and technical expertise for the fossil fuel refinery and renewable fuels plant. There is a strong emphasis placed on technical expertise, understanding Refining economics and mentoring skills. The Senior Process Engineer reports to the Process Engineering Lead.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical and operational expertise within the refinery and renewables plant.
- Identify long-term process improvement opportunities for margin improvement, process optimization, reliability, and energy utilization.
- Implement new technologies or best practices to improve profitability.
- Provide higher-level monitoring and troubleshooting for refinery & renewable fuel processes.
- Lead process development activities for the refinery
- Mentor process engineers
- Provide process engineering designs and services during engineering, construction, and startup of projects.
- Evaluate project economics based upon process simulations and economic models
- Evaluate new technologies required to meet Environmental requirements
- Work closely with Environmental, Operations, and Safety during all phases of project development and process optimization.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
- 8+ years Process Engineering experience in a refinery, petrochemical facility, or renewable fuels plant.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Ability to write and review reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals required.
- Proven technical expertise
- Strong experience in and understanding of Refining and/or renewable fuels economics
- Must possess strong computer skills including MS Office Suite
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Process simulation experience preferred
