The GPS Technician or Grade Setter will use GPS systems and traditional means to set grade and conduct construction layout on highways, parking lots and civil sitework projects.
Starting wage is $26.50 - $35.00 per hour.
We are willing to train the right candidate.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
2.Aptitude for math and problem solving. Must be detail and safety oriented.
3.2+ years of experience grade checking, staking, and surveying using GPS equipment preferred.
4.2+ years working in heavy civil construction including earthwork, paving, and concrete preferred.
5.Ability to provide and maintain driver's license and acceptable driving record.
6.Highschool diploma or GED.
7.Ability to operate or learn to operate heavy equipment such as tractors, rollers, skid steers and Loaders.
8.Require kneeling, climbing, walking, twisting and general labor work.
Duties and/or Responsibilities
-Read, understand, and verify construction plans and specifications to ensure jobs are built correctly and to spec.
-Read, understand, and verify survey stakes to determine grade specification for embankment/excavation.
-Collect and utilize information with GPS equipment, i.e., topographic surveys, field layout, staking, and machine control verification.
-Load site models and office data onto machines and work with operators to perform calibrations.
-Troubleshoot situations and solve problems (material quality/quantity, GPS equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
-Perform other duties as assigned including general labor and equipment operation.
