POSITION OVERVIEW:

Leads the Cath Lab Department in the design, development and provision of services and programs designed to nurture and support the patient focus component of the organization. Primarily responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the Cath Lab with regard to patient care management, resource management, fiscal management, knowledge and adherence to regulatory and accrediting bodies, federal and state regulations. Participates in direct procedural care as needed. Collaborates with other directors/managers to support the Cardiovascular Service Line. Assumes the leadership role in individual area of expertise and for projects as assigned. Assumes, under the direction of the Laboratory, responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance. Receives direction from: COO, Cath Lab Medical Director, and Cath Lab Director

EDUCATION:

  • BSN from an accredited nursing program

  • AAS-CV From an accredited cardiovascular program
  • Education and experience can be considered in lieu of a CV-specific program

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in all facets of the cardiovascular laboratory and background in CV technology.
  • Minimum 10 years continuous clinical experience in a Cath Lab or EP setting
  • 2 years of recent management experience preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current licensure as RN in the state of Montana

  • Current active registry as a Registered Cardiovascular Interventional Specialist or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist.

  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • RCIS or RCES

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of acceptable cardiovascular laboratory standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the organization.
  • Know the definitions of fundamental computer terms related to applications software and desktop PCs.
  • Know how to open, read, and respond to email. Know how to manage electronic files. Know how to print electronic documents and reports.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and collaborative skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, be accurate and handle constantly changing situations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations and handle conflict.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, adjust and troubleshoot monitoring equipment, IV infusions, and computer equipment.
  • Ability to operate specialty equipment related to area of expertise and to perform computer tasks at a "user" level.
  • Work in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • Potential for contact with chemicals, blood borne pathogens and exposure to infectious disease.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques several times during shift.
